Sony has announced a new 250 GB version of the PS3 coming to North America in November 2009!
This is the same as the recently introduced 120 GB verison, but with a lot more storage space. This model is currently priced at $349.99 on Amazon - not a bad deal for such a slick unit.
The full specs are as follows:

The 120 GB "Slim" PS3 System is the latest currently available model. The big difference between this and older models is the thinner, lighter form factor. This PS3 is 33% slimmer and 36% lighter than previous models.
Additonally, this PS3 model has a "Bravia Sync" feature that lets you control other Sony HDMI products with one remote. Quite handy if you have a Sony Bravia TV, but not much use if you don't.
A feature missing from this model is the ability to install other operating systems on the PS3. So if you were planning on installing Linux on your PlayStation 3, you will want to buy another model.
Overall this is a great system if you want a great looking all in one media center that plays games, music, video files and Blu Ray discs.
There are rumors of a 250 GB "Slim" model on the way, but there are no plans at this time to release it in North America. Get it here! |

The 160 GB PlayStation3 has 2 USB ports, built in 802.11b/g WiFi, Blu Ray Player and 1080p HDMI output. This model also comes with a game, "Uncharted: Drake's Fortune".
The real bonus here is the extra drive space - 160 GB is more than enough for storing your music, videos and downloads. Aside from being a great gaming system, the PS3 makes an amazing media center, so having that extra space really helps.
Additonally, people seem to forget that Sony is a leader in Blu ray technology and the PS3 is an incredible Blu Ray player.
This alone makes the PlayStation 3 a great buy. Keep in mind, this model is the same bulkier form factor as older models. If you want something slimmer, then the 120 GB model is for you. Get it here! |

There were two versions of the 80 gig PlayStation 3 - one with 4 usb ports, flash card reader slots and compatibility with PS2 games, and the newer one that lacks these features.
Both have a Blu Ray Player and 1080p HDMI output. Neither model is in production, but you can still find the newer 80 GB model for sale in some stores. If you can get it cheap, the 80 gig model is a good deal if you don't need a lot of hard drive space.
Don't forget that the PS3 supports external USB drives, so you can always get this cheaper PS3 and store your media on an external drive.
On the other hand, the newest 120 and 160 GB models are a great deal, so for a little more money you get the latest hardware. Get it here! |

There were two 60 GB PS3 models. The original PS3 came in a 60 gig model as did a similar model that was released in March 2007. Both models had 4 usb ports, 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, and flash memory card readers. Neither of these models is currently in production. Get it here! |

The 40 gigabyte PlayStation 3 came out in October of 2007. This one had 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi, but didn't have PS2 compatibility or the flash card readers of older models.
The original PlayStation 3 was fairly expensive so this was an attempt to bring the price down by removing some features. This one was also available in "Satin Silver". Get it here! |

This is the original PlayStation 3 console released in November of 2006. This model had a 20 gig hard drive, 4 USB ports, but is missing the 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi that newer models have. This model did support PS2 games unlike the newest models.
You can still find this model on eBay, but there's no reason to buy it since newer models have many more features. Get it here! |
![]() | If you really have to have something that stands apart from the crowd, then this is the PS3 for you. But, be warned - it comes with a heavy price tag! This limited edition silver PlayStation 3 has a 40 gig hard drive and came out in 2008. This console is really only useful as a collector's item - the system is pretty outdated by now. You get way more bang for your buck from a new 120 or 160 gig PS3. Get it here! |
